Enjoy The Journey...

Mātātoa: 1. (stative) be fearless, unconcerned, unafraid, courageous, daring, intrepid, plucky, undaunted, valiant.

Kia ora koutou

....For a long time, fear of failing stopped me from trying new experiences. Then I realised - creativity helped me overcome that fear, I learnt from my failures and successes, sometimes creating something better and beyond my imagination. So now, when I am in the arty-farty mood (which is often, lol) - there are no limits, because I am fearless, I embrace my failures and enjoy the journey :)

Monday Card Class

For the last class of the year, I taught the ladies how to make a Mini Album Card - it's pretty cool.  Tutorial for the Mini Album Card is at the end of this post :)

Front
Pocket on the front with a pullout page.

Inside

Inside with right pocket flap open
One tall pocket with a long pullout page, two medium pockets with pullout pages, small pocket on opened flap with pullout page, center panel is photo mat for 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" photo.

Front and outside
Center panel is a tall pocket with long pullout page, back panel is the same as the front panel - pocket with pullout page.

I had heaps of fun with Stampin' Up's! Chevron Border Punch, I even used the punch pooh (the negative or punched out pieces) to decorate a couple of panels.  There are no limits to how you want this card to look in terms of - colours, patterns, pockets, pullouts, flaps, decorations, embellishments...this is one of my faaaavourite cards, by far!

Big Curly Hair Projects :)

As usual I have been a busy bee creating card making stuff for The Paper Peacock garage sale. The way the garage sale works is pretty cool - you pay $5 registration (this gets donated to a selected charity - this time IHC), you then rummage through all your crafty stuff, sort out the stuff you no longer use, put a fair price on it and put it in the garage sale to sell, then all of your sales convert into credit to spend at The Paper Peacock.  Being an arty-farty card maker, I end up with a lot of card scraps - so I decided to make up Base Card Packs with inserts (not attached), 6" x 6" Patterned Paper Packs and Card Candy to sell in the garage sale...

Card Candy

Card Candy - Adhere to 6" x 4" base card (portrait or landscape), add a greeting.  Voila! A beautiful card for that special person and special occasions :)

....Well, I have to tell you - my Card Candy was a hit, sold out!  Woop woop :)

In my last post 'Just Around The Corner', I mentioned I was working on an inexpensive mini album that I had modified - well, I haven't finished it yet, I am hoping to put up pictures of it in my next post...

Sadly, my employment with Goodlife Motorhomes has finished, as one door closes another door opens...I have applied for a full-time job that I would really like to get, fingers and toes crossed.  I made a thank you card for my wonderful employers using my favourite stamp set - no it's not deja vu, yes you have seen this image a few times already...told you it's my favourite stamp set! :)

Projects I'm currently working on - inexpensive modified mini album, 21st invitation prototype, Valentine's day cards, Stampin' Up! workshop cards...Pictures will be up next post :)

ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD

It creates totally customisable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different colour and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!

It’s super easy to use; it will go over as a huge wow when you demonstrate it at your events and your customers see it in action. It looks intimidating at first glance, but when they see that all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score they’ll go crazy (in a good way).
It’s small and lightweight; this makes it easy for you to use it while watching a football match, at a park, at a friend’s for craft night—anywhere.
It even has a clever scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
It’s easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don’t have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won’t lose them!).
The price is terrific--especially for a tool that does so much!
It will be in next year’s annual catalogue, so it’s here to stayItem Description Price
133774 Envelope Punch Board $38.95

Mini Album Card Tutorial

YOU WILL NEED
2 x 12" x 12" card (colour A)
1 x 12" x 12" card (colour B)
1 x 12" x 12" patterned card
3/8" ribbon
card trimmer
scorer
Big Shot - embossing folder (I used Chevron Embossing Folder)
border punch (I used Chevron Border Punch)
1 1/2"circle punch
1" circle punch
1/2" corner punch
Crop-a-dile big bite for 1/4" hole
adhesives - 1/4" and 1/8" double-sided tape white and red, (I also used my Xyron)

Step 1.
CUT MATS - Colour B Cut three; 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" and Cut one; 3 3/4" x  4 1/4"
Emboss all four mats.
- Patterned Card Cut three;  3 3/4" x 5 3/4", Cut one;  3 3/4" x 4 1/4", Cut one; 3 3/4" x 1 1/4",
Cut two;  2" x 1 3/8"

CUT POCKETS - Colour A Cut two;  2 1/2" x 6", Chevron Border Punch;  along the two long sides of each pocket.
Cut two;  2 1/2" x 4", Chevron Border Punch;  along the two short sides of each pocket, this will leave a 1 5/8" gap in the center of both pockets.

CUT PULL-OUTS - Colour A  Long pull-outs for tall pockets:  Cut two;  3" x 5", Corner punch; all corners, Crop-a-dile;  make 1/4" hole 3/4" centered down from the top.  Thread ribbon through and tie in a knot (pull-out handle)
Pull-outs for front and back pockets:  Cut two;  3" x 5", Corner punch;  all corners.
Pull-out small flap pocket:  Cut one;  3" x 3", Corner punch;  all corners.
- Patterned card Pull-outs for inside pockets:  Cut two;  3" x 4", Corner punch;  all corners.

CUT FLAP HINGE - Patterned card Cut one;  3" x 3 1/2", Corner punch;  two corners on one of the short sides - this makes the bottom of your flap hinge.

CUT FLAP HINGE STRIP - Patterned card Cut one;  3/4" x 3 3/4".

PUNCH CIRCLE HANDLES - Patterned card  1" Circle Punch;  eight circles

Step 2.
 Cut and score card base.

Starting with 12" x 12" colour A - Score from top to bottom @ 4" and 8".  Quarter turn counter-clockwise - Score from top to bottom @ 6" then Score from top @ 10 1/4" stopping at the 4" score mark (first score mark).
Quarter turn counter-clockwise - Cut from the top @ 4" and 8" stopping at the 6" score mark.

Step 3.
Fold card base.
Turn card so the cut flaps are at the bottom.  Fold the left panel over the center panel - making a valley fold.  Fold the right panel under the center panel - making a mountain fold.  Fold up the little flap at the bottom of the right panel.

Fold left bottom panel up.

Fold center bottom panel up under.  Fold up small flap of right bottom panel.  Fold up right bottom panel.

Left and center panels - valley fold.
Center and right panels - mountain fold (right panel is folded under)

Step 4.
Adhere mats and pockets and make pull-outs.
Adhere patterned mat to front.

Open card to decorate the inside.  Adhere embossed colour B mat to folded left panel and to the open top right panel.
Adhere patterned mat to center panel.

Adhere smaller patterned mat to larger part of the right bottom panel. (my mat was cut shorter than what it should be - yours is correct).

Using strong adhesive, apply to the two short sides of the right bottom flap, leaving the long edge open - this will make your small pocket.

Fold small flap up adhering to bottom right panel making a pocket.  Adhere patterned mat 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" to pocket.

Open the left panel.  1 1/2" circle punch half circle on the center of the bottom edge of the left panel flap (keep the half circle punch pooh for the photo mat corners)  - this is to make room for the long pull-out with ribbon handle.
Using strong adhesive, apply to both long sides of the left bottom panel flap, leaving the punched half circle edge. Fold up closing the flap - adhering pocket.

Close the right panel flap, adhere colour B embossed 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" to this panel. You have completed adhering all the mats to the inside of the card.  Flip card over ready to adhere mats to the outside of the card.

Adhere colour B embossed mat to center panel.  Adhere the last patterned mat  to the left panel (right panel is the front and is already matted with a patterned mat).

Open center panel flap.  1 1/2" circle punch half circle on the center of the bottom edge of the center panel flap (keep the half circle punch pooh for the photo mat corners) - this is to make room for the long pull-out with ribbon handle. Using strong adhesive, apply to long sides of the center bottom flap, leaving the punched half circle edge.  Fold up closing the flap - adhering the pocket.
Using strong adhesive, apply to three sides (two short sides and one long side) of the long chevron punched pockets. I used 1/8" red double-sided tape along the long edge.

Adhere the long chevron punched pockets either-side of center panel - flush to the top and bottom and fold of the card, the pocket openings are facing away from the center.

Apply strong adhesive to the 1" punched circles (I used my Xyron).  Sandwich colour A long pull-out between two 1" punched circles halfway along the long side - these are the handles for your pull-outs.  The two long pull-outs fit into the long chevron punched pockets.

Adhere chevron punch pooh along near the bottom of the center panel.
The long pull-out with ribbon handle fits in the long center pocket.

Using strong adhesive, apply to three sides (two short sides, one long side) on both chevron punched small pockets - leave one long side.  I used 1/8" red double-sided tape for the narrow parts.

Adhere patterned 2" x 1 3/8" mats to the topside center of each chevron punched small pocket.

Have the inside of the card open and right panel flap open.  Adhere the small chevron punched pockets flush to the bottom of left inside panel and bottom of right top inside panel (with colour B embossed mat).

Cut the two punched half circles in half again - making four quarters.  Apply strong adhesive to the two straight edges on each piece, leave the curved edge - these are your photo mat corners.  Adhere each piece flush to each corner on the center panel with the patterned mat, the open curved edges faces inwards.

Adhere 1"circle handles to the two 3" x 4" patterned card pull-outs by sandwiching the patterned card pull-out between two 1" punched circles halfway along the long side - these two pull-outs fit in the small chevron punched pockets.
Colour A small pull-out slips into the small pocket on the right panel flap.

Step 5.
Make flap hinge
Using strong adhesive, apply to the top straight edge of  3" x 3 1/2" patterned card hinge.  Apply adhesive to 3/4" x 3 3/4" patterned card hinge strip and to three chevron punch pooh.

Adhere hinge centered flush along the top of the right panel mat.

Adhere hinge strip flush along top of right panel mat - covering and reinforcing top of hinge.

Adhere chevron punch pooh to topside of the hinge.

Mini album card is complete :)

New Year, New Beginnings...

...A friend of mine has pulled out and dusted off her sewing machine, she has decided she wants to do sewing crafts - I think that's rather cool, so much so - she has inspired me to dust off my sewing machine and start dressmaking again.  Only this time, I will be designing and sewing garments exclusively for me...selfish I know, but I've out-grown my current wardrobe and I want clothing that suits me - crazy styling and all.  Watch my future posts for pics and updates - so exciting, another big curly hair thing on the go :)

There is new kiwi song I've been digging lately - need to share it,  K.ONE, Same You, featuring Brook Duff

Thank you for having look, hope you come back again.
