An October Occasion...

Kia ora koutou

The kids started back at school and kindergarten last week woohoo! :)  I started my new part-time job - it is fantastic, my employer's are lovely, I am going to do my best and hope they keep me on for a long time. I also started back at my Monday Card Class, how I missed the ladies - thank you Linda for teaching your wonderful cards over the school holidays.

Monday Card Class...

Romantic Vintage

This card is dedicated to nana <3

I wanted to show the ladies how fantastically resourceful the 6.5" x 6.5" pads are - full of beautiful card you can use to decorate, layer, and embellish your creative projects.  Some pads have the additional die-cut labels and borders BONUS!, quick and easy ready-to-make cards :)
The focal point of this card is the red flower - I sponged and stamped the ink colour 'Real Red' around the edges, connecting the focal point to the rest of the card.  For the inside of the card, I fussy-cut some flowers that are also featuring on the front of the card - so when you open the card it is all tied together and you are reminded of the prettiness on the front.

Stamps - Charming, Happy Greetings
Ink - Real Red
Card - French Vanilla Bazil, Kaisercraft: Needle and Thread 6.5" x 6.5" pad ( a few pages)
Accessories - Little Leaves Sizzlit, Butterfly Wings Embosslit, Lacy Border Punch, Scalloped Circle Punch, Triple Blossom Bouquet Punch, 5mm Corner Punch, Scissors (for fussy cutting), Hemp thread, Silver Brad, Dimensionals.

Butterfly Window

For this card, we made our own 'designer paper' by randomly stamping the beautiful swirl images and filling in the gaps with a small flower bouquet stamp with black ink on white card...stunning and simple, this technique is also known as 'one-sheet-wonder'; you can make a whole heap of cards using your hand-stamped designer sheet.
The front of the card has a vellum window with a layered butterfly on top, when closed you can see the designer paper through the window :)

Butterfly Easel

...So we had a little extra time, this meant we were able to make a little extra something :)  My talented and beautiful colleague (fellow tutor in The Paper Peacock design team) Maria, taught me how to make this pretty little easel card.  So simple and easy, if you would like instructions - email me; kerianneh@gmail.com or see me at The Paper Peacock :)

Stamps - Large Swirl Stamp (Borrowed from Linda), Charming, Apothecary Art
Ink - Basic Black
Card - Blue Lagoon Bazil, White Bazil, Vellum (opaque white)
Accessories - Beautiful Butterflies Bigz, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Labels Collection Framelits, Rhinestone, Dimensionals, Scalpel (to cut out butterfly window).

....Thank You

I am ever grateful for my Stampin' Up! customers, because of you I have the best job in the world (in my opinion, lol)...I mean who else gets to play/create, have a party, meet wonderful people, get free products and fantastic discounts?
I always like to create a unique, beautiful thank you card and pop it in when returning customer orders -  here is the latest one:
Double embossing featuring a half-cut Label Framelit edge.
Stamps - Charming, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink - Blushing Bride
Card - Whisper White, In Color 2010 - 2012 Designer Series Paper Stacks
Accessories - Labels Collection Framelit, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, Designer Frames Folder, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, White Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Home-made templates for double-embossing.

Graduation

I was asked to make a graduation card, found this fantabulous design through Splitcoast Stampers - a very clever, creative lady Heidi Baks:  click here for the link to her blog; runningwscissorsstamper.

What A Treat - At Our Retreat...

Kia ora koutou

It's been a fantastic two weeks - Linda; the owner of The Paper Peacock Scrapbooking Shop, hosted a wonderful scrapbooking/crafting/card-making retreat at Glentui Meadows last weekend. This was the first time I've been to such a thing....wow, it was two and a half days of creative bliss!!! Loved it, can't wait for the next retreat in October hosted by Maria & Brigid.

We were all challenged to do a scrapbook page layout, we were each given: white 12" x 12" card, and the same pre-cut chipboard title.  Then we were dealt three playing cards from a deck of cards - written on these cards were embellishments to use on our scrapbook page... I was dealt:  Glitter, Rhinestones and Ink.  Here is the result :)

This was quite a challenge for me as I am not a seasoned scrapbooker,  it was heaps of fun to do, and you should see the other ladies layouts OMG friggin awesome!!!

Monday 'pre-retreat', I wanted to share with my class the wonderful crepe paper butterfly technique that I learnt from an amazing lady - Liz Collett.  You can find her You Tube tutorial link on my post: Four Day - Clearance Rack Blitz, under the title 'Life is like a butterfly', and further details on how I made the butterflies.

In my last post I mentioned I was looking for a part-time job - I found one, it's whanau time friendly and...I can still teach my Monday card class, yay!!!  Life is good!
School holidays are upon us, I am having two weeks off  Monday card class to look after my kids over the holidays.  I have decided, the school holidays are a good time to start treating my body better; eat healthy, watch my portion sizes, cut out sugar (going to be very hard), exercise. I will be using a very good, free website Sparkpeople to help me track my diet and exercise.  If you are thinking of losing weight or healthy lifestyle change like me, I recommend Sparkpeople, here is the link if you would like to check them out.

Thanks for looking, good looking  :)  Hope you checkout my next post, till then....
